When Charles Dickens was alive, he often released his books serially, that is delivering new chapters in installments. The people of the time looked forward to the release of each new piece in much the same way as we today eagerly await the next episode of 24. We have recently been informed that this old concept has been given a new and high tech twist.
The Chopin Manuscript was created by a huge roster of distinguished thriller novelists. Participants (listed by chapter order) are:
Jeffery Deaver (Opening Chapter) * David Hewson * James Grady * S.J. Rozan * Erica Spindler * John Ramsey Miller * David Corbett * John Gilstrap * Joseph Finder * Jim Fusilli * Peter Spiegelman * Ralph Pezzullo * Lisa Scottoline * P.J. Parrish * Lee Child * Jeffery Deaver (Two Wrap-up Chapters)
The plot:
Former war crimes investigator Harold Middleton possesses a priceless, previously-unknown manuscript by Frederic Chopin. Within the notes of this work, which was originally found and hidden by the Nazis during World War II, lies a secret that has left death in its wake and could kill tens of thousands more. As Middleton races to unlock the mystery of the manuscript, he is accused of murder, pursued by federal agents and targeted by assassins. But the greatest threat comes from a man known only as Faust - a shadowy figure from Middleton's past.
The Chopin Manuscript is narrated by actor Alfred Molina, whose film credits include Spiderman 2, Chocolat, Frida and The Da Vinci Code. Jim Fusilli edited The Chopin Manuscript.
